What is Neoclassical Acupuncture?
Neoclassical Acupuncture is a palpatory style of Acupuncture that provides immediate feedback with each needle placed. The goal is to create a “domino effect” of clearing the root cause and sub-sequentially the symptoms from your body.
Diagnosis through Palpation
A comprehensive Neoclassical Acupuncture diagnosis can be achieved within moments through palpation of the body. The process of diagnosis and treatment may encompass up to five distinct levels: Element, Obstacle, Organ, and Meridian.

The resolution of each of these levels can be confirmed through palpation and patient feedback. The approach demonstrates immediate changes in the body with minimal needle usage. This eliminates the necessity for predetermined protocols or specific point prescriptions.
One Needle Acupuncture
Treatment will generally consist of only a few needles inserted into the body on traditional Acupuncture points. When treatment is administered at the Elemental level, a cascading effect often occurs, resulting in the simultaneous resolution of all levels and the potential alleviation of presenting symptoms. This is what is referred to as the “domino effect” which can often be achieved in many cases by using only one Acupuncture needle.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Acupuncture is virtually painless.
Our practitioners use a gentle insertion technique where the needles can hardly be felt during insertion.
Let’s also put the size of the needles used in an Acupuncture treatment into perspective. You could fit approximately 8 Acupuncture Needles inside a typical Doctor’s Medical syringe. Acupuncture needles are rounded towards the tip where as a medical syringe is sharp.
At Gold Coast Acupuncture we use ultra fine Japanese needles which are even smaller than traditional Chinese Acupuncture needles.
